Lincoln, this is an interesting approach – the “onboarding email” essentially combines “activation email” with “welcome email”, which, if minimized to a single email, can also spare New User the tediousness of going back and forth between the app and her/his inbox. At iridize, we like to follow up with a phone call –you would think it’s a bit much, but audio-vocal connection does onboarding-wonders!– so dropping a heads up in the onboarding email can also be helpful.
